Recent Technical Difficulties!
Greetings, friends!
If you’ve spent time on the Project website recently, you may have run into some glitches. For a brief time, your passwords might not have worked. You may have seen a number of broken links—missing photos or other images, or you might have tried to open an external link to a newspaper article or obituary only to hit a pay wall. You might have tried to watch a video interview, only to find an empty window. And we’ve changed our email address–twice! Much of that was the result of a series of technical problems we encountered including, apparently, a malicious hacker who managed to work some mischief before we got things straightened out. Webmaster Mike has been put to the test—of both problem-solving and patience—and rose to the challenge! We’ve beefed up security and things are working pretty smoothly again. But the process of replacing the missing images is going to take a while! So far, we’re not aware of any that we’ve lost permanently, so that’s a blessing.
The pay wall issue is a tricky one, because those newspaper services only allow five free views without subscribing, which we have so far not chosen to do. We can try to chip away at getting to the articles, taking screenshots, and substituting those as in-site links. But you might also try copying the URL for the particular article in question and searching for it in a different browser or on a different device.
Thanks for your patience! It’s that “humble posture of learning” thing, that seems to apply in all areas of life! There will always be new challenges to overcome and new capacities to develop.
As always, we invite and encourage you to visit the site, explore and search, spread the word about the Project, register as a user, and leave comments. And, most importantly, send us your stories and memories, your photos and historic documents, your data and information. You can submit content or comments and suggestions to ibh@iowabahaihistory.org.
