Greetings from National Convention 2001!

By Rebecca Blanchard (Becky Jensen), from the Des Moines Bahá’í Archives, entered by Diane Findlay May 2025

Becky was our delegate to the National Convention in April, 2001, and sent this card to the Des Moines Local Spiritual Assembly. She remembers writing these letters to our unit’s LSAs and registered groups, in the hotel hallway, late night into the early morning hours, so she wouldn’t disturb her roommate!

Transcription:

Dearest friends,

I walked the gardens of the Mother Temple between Convention Sessions this afternoon, thinking of all of you.

At first glance, the bushes seemed little more than bare twigs; the tulip petals appeared to be tightly wrapped packages.

But, on closer examination, the tiniest new leaves are greening the bushes, and the tulips are standing–“in serried lines.”

The long Winter is coming to a close… and the Divine Springtime is beginning to bloom. The National Spiritual Assembly is full of confidence in the American Bahá’í Community,, and our capacity to love!

“May each one become beautiful in color and redolent of fragrance in the kingdom of God.”

Love, Rebecca Jensen

In every Dispensation, the light of Divine Guidance has been focused upon one central theme.… In this wondrous Revelation… the foundation of the Faith of God, and the distinguishing feature of His Law, is the consciousness of the oneness of mankind. — ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, cited in The Promised Day is Come
