Cedar Rapids LSA Celebrates 35th Anniversary, 1978
by Diane Findlay, updated April 2026
I remember the excitement of participating in the planning and hosting of this celebration as a fairly new believer and member of the Cedar Rapids LSA. It was a very special evening. Guests included Ruth Moffett and Knight of Baháʼu’lláh Gayle Woolson. I don’t remember many details but I know we especially enjoyed offering a bar featuring non-alcoholic drinks with names like “Millie Collins” (instead of Tom Collins), and “Foretaste of Paradise.” I also remember that Gayle Woolson, who had a much greater appreciation for the importance of preserving Baháʼí history than I did at the time, insisted on taking so many pictures that it felt, to me, like a disruption of the flow and joy of the evening. I understand her better now! Perhaps others will remember more and add comments.
